Canopy
Delete your account and data
You can delete your Canopy account, and everything in it, yourself from inside the app. It takes effect immediately. This page explains exactly what happens, and what to do if you can no longer sign in.
Delete your account in the app
- Open Canopy and go to the Settings tab.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
- Confirm twice. The second confirmation is the last step; there is no undo.
This is the complete deletion. There is nothing further to request from us afterwards.
What is deleted
When you confirm, the app first removes every photo in your private storage folder, then deletes your account. Deleting the account removes, in one step:
- Your sign-in identities (Google or Apple) and your profile, including your name and reminder settings
- Every location, plant and care guide
- Your whole care log: waterings, skips, snoozes, repots and moves
- Every health check and its photos
- The AI usage records that enforce the daily limits
- The notification tokens saved for your devices
The reminders scheduled on your phone are cancelled at the same time. If you signed in with Apple, you can also remove Canopy from "Sign in with Apple" in your Apple ID settings; that is optional and does not hold any of your plant data.
A deleted account may remain in our encrypted database backups for a limited time until those backups expire. Backups are never used to restore a deleted account.
Can't get into the app?
If you have lost access to the app or your device, email us from the address linked to your Canopy account and we will delete it for you. The button below pre-fills the subject line.
Please include:
- The email address on your account (if you signed in with Apple and hid your email, say so and tell us the name on the account)
- Whether you signed in with Google or Apple
What happens next:
- We reply to the address on the account to confirm the request is really yours.
- We delete the account and everything listed above within 30 days of confirming, usually much sooner.
- We send a final email once it is done.
Good to know
- Deleting the app from your phone does not delete your account. Your plants stay in your account until you delete it as described above.
- To remove a single plant rather than your whole account, open the plant and delete it; its photos, care log and health checks go with it.
- We keep no payment records because Canopy is free. The only thing we may keep after deletion is the email conversation if you wrote to us.
